Research Area

Our group uses drops as templates to build microparticles and microcapsules of a controlled size and composition. We design new microfluidic devices to form these drops and explore different possibilities to solidify them. We characterize the structure of the resulting microparticles and microcapsules and relate it to their properties. In particular, we are interested in soft materials that change their properties if exposed to certain stimuli. We use these responsive materials to encapsulate active ingredients and develop new strategies to control the release of the encapsulants.
