Science and technology for miniaturization and integration

Microengineering is the art and science of designing, creating and manufacturing highly integrated and connected components and systems.

The main characteristics of this field of study is its multidisciplinary nature: a microengineering system integrates electronic, robotic and mechanical components with computational, chemical and optical elements and includes various materials from semiconductors to polymers and advanced ceramics. Furthermore, the resource-efficient manufacturing of complex systems represents an important facet of microengineering.

The master in Microengineering at EPFL is an ideal training towards innovative applications in highly attractive sectors, such as portable communication devices, robotics, biomedical devices, augmented reality and the watch industry.
