We maximize our impact by developing a full vertical knowledge chain, ranging from fundamental theoretical innovations all the way to industrial deployment.

Mechanical Engineering at EPFL is based on six disciplinary R&D pillars tightly interwoven with strategic application domains. These pillars are (I) Mechanics of Fluids, (II) Mechanics of Solids and Structures, (III) Control, Robotics, and Systems, (IV) Design and Manufacturing, (V) Thermal Sciences and Energy, and (VI) Biomechanics.
