MX Master Fellowship Program
Are you a driven Master’s student passionate about Materials Science?
We invite applications for 6-month funded fellowships offering hands-on research experience in a one of the cutting-edge research labs at EPFL’s Institute of Materials (IMX).
The MX Master Fellowship Program is an initiative by the Institute of Materials science that offers fellowships to support your stay at EPFL for up to six months, to conduct your Master research thesis at one of the the labs affiliated with the Institute of Materials. Each fellowship amounts to 1’800 CHF per month to cover accomodation and living costs in Switzerland, as well as a travel allowance of up to 1’200 CHF, and is provided directly by the hosting lab. Starting and ending dates are flexible to match your academic calendar and the availability of the host professors.
The Master projects are generally six months long and should be part of the student’s home university-accredited projects (a letter from the home university must be provided).
Applications from under-represented groups are encouraged.

Eligibility

- Strong academic record and motivation for research
- Proficient in English (spoken and written)
How to apply
Please find below the list of the required documents:
- Your CV
- A copy of your University degree(s), if already available.
- Complete transcripts from each university you have attended.
- A motivation letter where you explain your research statement and target host labs (up to 3) as well as the wished starting and ending dates of the Master’s research work. Indicate if you have already been in contact with potential host labs.
- A letter from you home-university confirming that the project is part of the curriculum.
- One or two recommendation letters, mentioning ranking among peers
- Your ID (passport or national ID).
