Aerospace Training in Mechanical Engineering : Double diploma EPFL-ISAE

Students of Mechanical Engineering have always shown a particular interest in aeronautical and aerospatial training.

On the 3rd may 1999 an agreement was reached between our institution and the prestigious Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (SUPAERO) of Toulouse (France) to allow our students access to this complementary training, bringing together the vitality and open spirit of Mechanical Engineering with the most recent high-level technologies developed by our neighbours.

Among other bilateral aspects of the agreement, the exchange of students means that candidates will be eligible for a double diploma in the name of both establishments (double diplôme).

However a maximum of 5 EPFL students, chosen from among the best of the Section of Mechanical Engineering 3rd Year candidates, will be able to pursue the Ingénieur EPFL-SUPAERO program at the Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (ISEA) and, if successful, they will receive the double diploma.

Safe flight to all future EPFL-SUPAERO mechanical engineers !

Presentation of SUPAERO

Created in 1909 in Paris, then transferred to Toulouse in 1968, SUPAERO merged with ENSICA in October, 2007 to create a unique intitute for higher ecucation and research with expertise in the areas of aeronautics and space: ISAE. At the heart of ISAE, the SUPAERO course takes 3 years to train all-round polyvalent mechanical engineers, who are then able to approach a wide spectrum of activities. Its program covers all the basic disciplines of the engineer, while laying emphasis on aeronautics and space.

EPFL students are received directly in 2nd year, and therefore have only the last two years to complete.

La 2nd year at SUPAERO is a standard academic year, structure as follows:

–> common stream covering the fundamental skills of engineering science
–> projects : experimental works and projects preparatory to research
–> two major subjects at the choice of the candidate
The 3rd year of SUPAERO combines a wide-ranging study with an in-depth scientific approach for the first term (September to March), followed by a diploma study (end of year project) during 3 to 6 months.
